What is it about fashion/clothes/fabrics that pull at your heartstrings?

It’s an art form, medium of self-expression and the endless possibilities that come along. Fashion is not just clothes and fabrics to me…it’s a science, craft and art form of its own, most importantly an outlet of self-exploration, expression,  and realization of the endless possibilities that come along.

Do you think Sri Lanka is ready for bold fashion trends?

Sri Lanka was always ready!

I find it rather frustrating to see people dressing according to society expectations, standards and so called “trends”.  It’s just that no one really is confident enough to embrace their true self with the right confidence.

Dress for yourself not for anyone else!

What are your thoughts on fashion vs. individual style?

Owning expensive clothes wont make you fashionable, you can make a cheap dress look expensive, its how you wear it, style it and make it you.

Having your own unique Individual style embracing your personality is much more important than been a blind slave to Fashion!  BE YOU.

Make fashion a tool for some inspiration and identify what’s cool.

What is your favourite/perfect item of clothing/outfit?

I dress quite simply; I don’t spend money on designer brands or expensive clothing. Shopping is not the easiest for me..

I always discover factory rejects or interesting pieces collected from markets where I mix and match and stylize to suit me.

An oversized T-shirt paired with a printed trouser discovered in some corner makes a new look, completed with my mom’s old earing converted in to a quirky necklace.

Throw in a slouchy side bag; I’m good to go!

What is your favourite piece of clothing/outfit that is Sri Lankan?

The sarong! Its like a unisex skirt for me. It drapes, folds, moves and is free!

Your outfits have been the talk of the town. How do you truly feel about your work?

Well I am honestly quite overwhelmed! Either people love it or hate it. Either way I am confident and happy of what I have produced and achieved. Truly humble and grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout.
